Castle Plus Neighbourhood Plan Consultation launches in Hertford

The (Regulation 14) public consultation on the draft Castle Plus Neighbourhood Plan is now open and residents are invited to share their thoughts by 26th October 2026.

Yesterday, 7th September 2026, the public consultation was launched at a community drop-in event at BEAM Hertford, attended by local residents, Community Steering Group volunteers, Councillors and the Neighbourhood Plan’s planning consultant.

The Castle Plus Neighbourhood Plan has been developed by a Community Steering Group, with support from Hertford Town Council and an independent planning consultant. The Neighbourhood Plan covers green spaces and nature, community facilities, sustainable homes and movement, heritage and design, and business and the local economy.

The Castle Plus Neighbourhood Plan Area covers: the southern part of town, Mead Lane, Hertford East Station, Hertingfordbury Village, Foxholes Farm, Balls Park, Mandeville Road, Horns Mill, Hertford North Station, Sele Road and the County Hospital area.

A second community drop-in event will take place at BEAM Hertford on Saturday 12th September, from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Residents will have the opportunity to view the draft Neighbourhood Plan, ask questions and receive help submitting their feedback.

Residents are invited to read the draft Neighbourhood Plan, and respond, online at: www.castleplushertford.co.uk/statutoryconsultation.

Paper copies are available at Hertford Library, the Town & Tourist Information Centre, Hertford Castle and BEAM Hertford, where you can also complete a (paper) response form.

The consultation runs for seven weeks and closes at midnight on Monday 26th October 2026. Once completed, the Neighbourhood Plan will help guide future development and inform planning decisions affecting the Castle Plus area.

Milena Nuti, Chair of the Community Steering Group, commented: “The local community have worked hard to develop meaningful draft policies that will have a significant impact on the future of the Castle Plus area, which includes so many significant parts of Hertford. Steering group members have shared their time and expertise generously throughout the preparation of this draft. We would be most grateful if residents could take a look and share their thoughts to help ensure that the Neighbourhood Plan leaves a truly lasting legacy – protecting, preserving and enhancing the Castle Plus area, for many years to come.”
